Today's photos
Vonda and I packed wishes for a good sleep into every blanket we covered yesterday - but who knows how well our guests did sleep?? Tis true the birds chirp very early in Johannisthal. Gary and I picked up fresh buns at Kamps for 7:15 breakfast and the group was ready for work at 8. It'll be 'supper' at 6:30 and they hope to see Berlin sites tonight.
The two who've been here all week cut the last of the three doors in the basement. Despite the hard work they expressed that never before had they been 'served' on the job like at Springbornstrasse.
After a grocery run to Kaufland, Natalie, Larissa and Rita fixed a wonderful meal of potatoes, schnitzle, sauce, salad and cherry truffle. It's so good they came.
Multiple odd jobs are being completed.

In the multi-purpose room, the edge beams are being 'boxed-in' with dry-wall.
The humming and whistling is coming from what will be the women's washroom upstairs - the last piece was done for this wall, completed before lunch.
Toilets are being installed in the WC's of the main foyer.
Thought for the day:
Unless the Lord builds the house, those who labour work in vain.

EXCITING CHAOS!!!
Not sure how I feel about a building with no doors... but like the bigger openings! Guess new doors come in after walls, ceilings, floors are in place. Hung make-shift blanket-doors for semi-privacy... for folks to walk through.
What a difficult hard job it is to cut concrete walls!!! ... and oh is it ever so loud and dirty!! Glad they hired a team to do the work- 3 more doors to cut in the basement!
The Trek guys have been great at knocking out the boulders and carting the concrete out of the building...; Gary also put them on the shop vac and floor mop immediately cleaned up all the 'upstairs' rooms and floors from the dry cement dust and wet concrete mud (saw cuts with water).
Vonda and Elle came to help set up 'Hotel Laage' in the sanctuary... Their team (14 men, 3 ladies) arrives tonight and they expect to stay till Sunday.
The 'door-less', 'floor-less' apartment/office rooms are ready for new tiles; the multi-purpose room has a good start for work on the hanging ceiling; there's mudding/filling holes under eaves outside... lots to do! ...waiting to find out exactly which folks do what and expect many changes by Sat nite.
The ladies are cooking for the crew - so I'll stay out of the kitchen and might even get some photos of the seedling grass that's coming up after the rain.

Friday Fliesestrich Frenzy
Gary got home quite late last night after waiting for Mr Friesen and his crew, who drove 3 hrs after their work day yesterday, slept on mats in the church sanctuary - to pour the top layer of concrete on the floor heating in the multi-purpose room and the sanctuary for us today.
'Fliesestrich' is light weight concrete they pump like water onto the floors. After the early morning stress of completing additional preparations (taping and stapling hoses every 1/2 metre not one metre as he was told) and re-checking all edges and corners, the men had a quick breakfast and began 'the pour'! What an incredible change!!! By 1:30 pm, their project was complete, the vehicles cleaned, and they joined the rest for lunch. Apparently by tomorrow we can use the room and proceed with work on the walls. PTL for no leaks in the water hoses, no floating hoses, no places for concrete to escape! It went well!
